Bokmakierie - Craft Beer

Beer branding, packaging and promotion

The project brief was to create a brand, packaging and promosional items for a new microbrewery-beer. My concept evolved around the fact that women have historically been brewing beer and not men. Breweries have been staffed by women since the beginnig of brewing - the women had to be of noble birth or extremely beautiful - they where called Brewsters. In ancient Egypt there was a law against men selling or brewing beer.
My target audience includes women between the ages of 18 and 35 who have succesful and professional careers. They are young and single and have medium - high income and like having a good time. They are adventurous, social and obviously LOVE drinking beer. I created a beer for these social professional women. This brand is for women by women (exclusive). This brand aims to deminish the stereotype of beer drinkers - ot only big old men with a BEER belly and a beard can drink beer. Women can also be beer drinkers.  Bokmakierie beer is an amber ale brewed in the Free State, South Africa. It is made from the bramble berry
that grows in this region. It has a sweet and sour fruity aroma, a medium body and a sourish but still sweet taste - well balanced. Bokmakierie is a unique, fresh beer mixture - which is left to age for 18 months. It is mixed with bramble berry juice. Bokmakierie has a fruity taste - zesty and refreshing with a soft pik foam on top. Bokmakierie is sweet and is rounded off with a subtle bitter taste. It must be stored in a cool and dry place and be served cold.
